A solar photovoltaic (PV) cell, is an electrical device that uses the PV effect to convert light energy into electricity. The application of oyster mushroom dyes in dye sensitized solar cell (DSSC) is a novel strategy to substitute the costly chemical production process with easily extractable, environmentally acceptable dyes. Both dyes of yellow and pink oyster mushrooms were extracted using the same process but dried into powder form using two techniques, warm drying and freeze drying.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the potential of topical vitamin D as a treatment for acne vulgaris (AV), focusing on its effects on inflammatory cytokines like IL-1β.
  • The clinical trial involved 64 participants, with 32 receiving topical vitamin D and 32 receiving a placebo, alongside a standard treatment (topical adapalene) over 8 weeks.
  • Results showed a significant reduction in IL-1β levels and a decrease in the severity of inflammatory lesions in the vitamin D group, indicating its effectiveness with minimal side effects.

Air-liquid interface (ALI) airway culture models serve as a powerful tool to emulate the characteristic features of the respiratory tract in vitro. These models are particularly valuable for studying emerging respiratory viral and bacterial infections. Here, we describe an optimized protocol to obtain the ALI airway culture models using normal human bronchial epithelial cells (NHBECs).

BACKGROUND This study explored the integration of conductive threads into a microfluidic compact disc (CD), developed using the xurographic method, for a potential sweat biosensing platform. MATERIAL AND METHODS The microfluidic CD platform, fabricated using the xurographic method with PVC films, included venting channels and conductive threads linked to copper electrodes. With distinct microfluidic sets for load and metering, flow control, and measurement, the CD's operation involved spinning for sequential liquid movement.

Intraoral theranostics, the integration of diagnostics and therapeutics within the oral cavity, is gaining significant traction. This pioneering approach primarily addresses issues like xerostomia (dry mouth), commonly resulting from cancer treatment, with a specific focus on monitoring temperature and humidity. This paper introduces the innovative Intra-Oral Portable Micro-Electronic (IOPM) fluidic theranostic device platform.
