Unlabelled: The locus coeruleus (LC) is the primary source of noradrenaline (NA) in brain and its activity is essential for learning, memory, stress, arousal, and mood. LC-NA neuron activity varies over the sleep-wake cycle, with higher activity during wakefulness, correlating with increased CSF NA levels. Whether spontaneous and burst firing of LC-NA neurons during active and inactive periods is controlled by mechanisms independent of wakefulness and natural sleep, is currently unknown.

Comparing voluntary and government-mandated management measures for meeting sustainable fishing targets.

Management of natural resources and environmental systems has often involved top-down approaches in which government agencies set and enforce regulations on extractive activities. More recently, market-driven approaches were introduced to incentivise producers to voluntarily engage in practices that align with management objectives and support regulations. For the first time, we compare government and voluntary approaches within fisheries management systems and quantify their relative influences on the sustainability status of fish populations.

Background: Individuals with co-occurring posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and HIV are at high-risk for negative HIV-related outcomes, including low adherence to antiretroviral therapy, faster disease progression, more hospitalizations, and almost twice the rate of death. Despite high rates of PTSD in persons with HIV (PWH) and poor HIV-related health outcomes associated with PTSD, an effective evidence-based treatment for PTSD symptoms in PWH does not exist.

Objective: This study aimed to describe the adaptation and theater testing of an evidence-based intervention designed for people with co-occurring PTSD and HIV.

Multiple intracellular and extracellular factors influence ploidy, but how they cooperate temporally to steer liver polyploidization and maturation or how post-transcriptional mechanisms integrate into these paradigms is unknown. Here, we identified an important regulatory hierarchy in which postnatal activation of epithelial splicing regulatory protein 2 (ESRP2) stimulates processing of liver-specific microRNA () to facilitate polyploidization, maturation, and functional competence of hepatocytes.

Barriers to Implementation of Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment in the Prehospital Setting.

Objectives: The Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) framework is a validated process that is used to identify individuals with substance use disorders (SUDs) and then encourage them to engage in and facilitate entry into treatment. It is not known how well SBIRT can be incorporated into prehospital practice and what barriers to Emergency Medical Services (EMS) implementation of an SBIRT program might arise. The aim of this project was to implement a pilot EMS based SBIRT program.
