Influence of false lumen status on systemic inflammatory response triggered by acute aortic dissection.

We investigated the influence of false lumen (FL) status on the systemic inflammatory response triggered by acute aortic dissection (AAD) using cytokine profiling. The study included 44 patients with AAD. Patients were divided between those with a thrombosed FL (Group T, n = 21) and those with a non-thrombosed FL (Group P, n = 23).

Effects of Moringa oleifera leaf powder supplementation on milk somatic cell scores and the plasma indexes of inflammation and antioxidant activity in dairy cows.

The effects of Moringa oleifera (MO) leaf powder (MOLP) supplementation on milk somatic cell scores (SCS), plasma inflammation markers, and plasma antioxidants were studied in 18 multiparous Holstein cows, 10 in early lactation (days in milk; DIM < 100) and eight in mid- and late-lactation (DIM ≥ 100). Nine of these 18 cows (5 + 4 individuals for each lactation stage, respectively) were placed in the MO group and fed with MOLP at 0.3% of partial mixed ration (PMR) dry matter (DM) for 3 weeks, while the other nine represented the control group and were not fed any MOLP supplementation.

Kinematics of the anterior interval in individuals with knee osteoarthritis.

[Purpose] Abnormal anterior interval kinematics may be associated with knee pain and loss of knee motion. We investigated the anterior interval kinematics during passive knee extension in individuals with knee osteoarthritis (OA). [Participants and Methods] The anterior interval space was evaluated in 13 healthy knees (healthy group) and 11 knees with OA (knee OA group) at 30° and 15° knee flexion using ultrasonography.

Downregulation of Tumor Suppressor Gene LKB1 During Severe Primary Graft Dysfunction After Human Lung Transplantation: Implication for the Development of Chronic Lung Allograft Dysfunction.

Background: Severe primary graft dysfunction (PGD) after lung transplantation (LTx) is a significant risk factor for the development of bronchiolitis obliterans syndrome (BOS). Recent data from our group demonstrated that small extracellular vesicles (sEVs) isolated from the plasma of LTx recipients with BOS have reduced levels of tumor suppressor gene liver kinase B1 (LKB1) and promote epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and fibrosis. Here, we hypothesized that early inflammatory responses associated with severe PGD (PGD2/3) can downregulate LKB1 levels in sEVs, predisposing to the development of chronic lung allograft dysfunction (CLAD).
