Normocalcemic primary hyperparathyroidism (NPHPT), a phenotype of primary hyperparathyroidism, is characterized by elevated parathyroid hormone levels in the setting of persistently normal serum calcium. Diagnosis of NPHPT can be challenging and requires that secondary causes of hyperparathyroidism be excluded. The natural history of NPHPT remains inconclusive.

However, the real-world evidence of the outcome of this novel therapy is limited.
Case Descriptions: We report the clinical and biochemical outcomes of 12 adults with hypoparathyroidism (11 women, age 30-70 years, and 1 man, age 30 years) from 3 different clinical sites in the United States who were transitioned from conventional therapy to daily injections of rhPTH(1-84) or rhPTH(1-34) and then switched to continuous administration of rhPTH(1-84)/rhPTH(1-34) via pump therapy.
Objective: Recombinant human parathyroid hormone (1-84) (rhPTH[1-84]) is efficacious in patients with hypoparathyroidism but additional data supporting its prolonged use are needed. We evaluated whether efficacy, safety, and tolerability are maintained during long-term rhPTH(1-84) treatment of patients with chronic hypoparathyroidism.
Methods: This was a phase 4, single-center, open-label, single-arm, 3-year extension (NCT02910466) of the phase 3 Hypo Extended (HEXT) study (NCT01199614).
Cyber-physical or virtual systems or devices that are capable of autonomously interacting with human or non-human agents in real environments are referred to as social robots. The primary areas of application for biomedical technology are nursing homes, hospitals, and private homes for the purpose of providing assistance to the elderly, people with disabilities, children, and medical personnel. This review examines the current state-of-the-art of social robots used in healthcare applications, with a particular emphasis on the technical characteristics and requirements of these different types of systems.

Summary: We present the first report of use of recombinant human parathyroid hormone (1-84) (rhPTH(1-84)) in a hypoparathyroid patient during early pregnancy and lactation. The patient developed postoperative hypoparathyroidism as a 28-year-old woman following total thyroidectomy for multinodular goiter. She was not well controlled with conventional therapy, and started rhPTH(1-84) in 2015 following its approval in the United States.
