A series of compounds with the general formula AMBO (A=Zn, Ba, Pb; B=Pb, Ba, Zn, Cu) related to the kotoite structure has been prepared employing high-temperature solid state methods. The substitution of transition elements in place of Zn ions resulted in colored compounds. The optical absorption spectra could be explained based on Tanabe-Sugano diagram and allowed d-d transitions.

The overexpression of glutaminase is reported to influence cancer growth and metastasis through glutaminolysis. Upregulation of glutamine catabolism is recently recognized as a critical feature of cancer, and cancer cells are observed to reprogram glutamine metabolism to maintain its survival and proliferation. Special focus is given on the glutaminase isoform, GLS1 (kidney type glutaminase), as the other isoform GLS2 (Liver type glutaminase) acts as a tumour suppressor in some conditions.

An efficient and straightforward one-pot tandem synthesis of 3-arylindan-1-ones was consummated through silver nitrate-promoted C-C coupling of simple indane-1,3-dione with arylboronic acid 1,3-indanedione monotosylhydrazone under microwave conditions. The resulting series of 3-arylindan-1-ones exhibited impressive yields, surpassing those achievable with traditional methods and requiring a shorter time frame. This innovative approach significantly accelerated the synthesis of biologically active compounds such as (+)-indatraline (Lu 19-005) and several other industrially relevant substances.

Diabetes mellitus Type 2 (DM2T) is a rapidly expanding metabolic endocrine disorder worldwide. It is caused due to inadequate insulin secretion by pancreatic beta cells as well as development of insulin resistance. This study aimed to investigate the anti-α-glucosidase, insulin stabilization effect, and non-cytotoxic nature of Gymnema latifolium leaf aqueous extract (GLAE).
