Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to examine the protective effects of Thymoquinone (THQ) against testicular damage induced by Methotrexate (MTX) in rats.
  • The experiment involved five groups and included sperm analysis, histopathology, and biochemical tests to assess the impact on testicular health.
  • Results showed that THQ significantly improved sperm quality and testicular function parameters, indicating its potential role in mitigating infertility caused by chemotherapy.

Nucleotide excision repair removes UV-induced DNA damage through two distinct sub-pathways, global repair and transcription-coupled repair (TCR). Numerous studies have shown that in human and other mammalian cell lines that the XPC protein is required for repair of DNA damage from nontranscribed DNA via global repair and the CSB protein is required for repair of lesions from transcribed DNA via TCR. Therefore, it is generally assumed that abrogating both sub-pathways with an XPC-/-/CSB-/- double mutant would eliminate all nucleotide excision repair.

Minimal massive gravity in three dimensions propagates a single massive spin-2 mode around an anti-de Sitter vacuum. It is distinguished by allowing for vacua with positive central charges of the asymptotic conformal algebra and a bulk graviton of positive energy. We present a new action for the model (and its higher order extensions) in terms of a dreibein and an independent spin connection.

This study aims to investigate the protective effects of thymoquinone (THQ) in isoproterenol (ISO)-induced myocardial infarction (MI) in rats. Thirty-two rats were divided into four equal groups. Control, THQ; Intragastric(ig) by dissolved 20 mg/kg in 500 μl olive oil at 24-h intervals for 7 days, ISO; On the 6th and 7th days of the experiment, it was dissolved in 1 ml distilled water, 100 mg/kg, subcutaneously(sb), THQ + ISO; THQ was given 20 mg/kg at 24-h intervals for 7 days, 100 mg/kg was given on days 6 and 7 of the ISO experiment.

has been extensively used as a model system to study ionizing radiation and chemical-induced mutagenesis, double-strand break repair, and recombination. However, there are only limited studies on nucleotide excision repair in this important model organism. An early study reported that lacks the transcription-coupled repair (TCR) form of nucleotide excision repair.
