Fermentation of food waste into 2,3-butanediol (2,3-BDO), a high-value chemical, is environmentally sustainable and an inexpensive method to recycle waste. Compared to traditional mesophilic fermentation, thermophilic fermentation can inhibit the growth of contaminant bacteria, thereby improving the success of food waste fermentation. However, the effects of sugar and nutrient concentrations in thermophilic food waste fermentations are currently unclear.

However, the high variability of food waste compositions has hindered the consistency and predictability of butanol production, impeding the development of a robust industrial fermentation process. This study characterized the compositional variation of collected food wastes and determined correlations between food waste compositional attributes and butanol yields for a better prediction of food waste fermentation with Clostridium.

While the individual impacts of these human-caused disturbances are apparent, few studies manipulate both herbivory and N, nor differentiate among herbivore guilds, to understand contingencies in the ability of these drivers to affect producer diversity and productivity. As such, understanding how the main and combined effects of increasing soil N with declining herbivores may influence plant community structure and function is critical to better understand the future of grassland ecosystems under multiple global change drivers.

A randomized controlled trial was performed to compare the tolerability and radical curative efficacy of 7-day versus 14-day high-dose primaquine regimens (total dose 7mg/kg) with either chloroquine or dihydroartemisinin-piperaquine.
Methods: Patients with uncomplicated P.
Purpose: For complex oncological procedures, hospital volume affects short and long-term patient outcome. We examined the association of hospital volume and long-term cancer control after radical prostatectomy.
Materials And Methods: With a cohort study design, we used the Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results-Medicare linked files to identify a population based sample of men with newly diagnosed prostate cancer treated primarily with radical prostatectomy.
