Use of large language models as artificial intelligence tools in academic research and publishing among global clinical researchers.

With breakthroughs in Natural Language Processing and Artificial Intelligence (AI), the usage of Large Language Models (LLMs) in academic research has increased tremendously. Models such as Generative Pre-trained Transformer (GPT) are used by researchers in literature review, abstract screening, and manuscript drafting. However, these models also present the attendant challenge of providing ethically questionable scientific information.

Mupirocin-Doped α-Cellulose Nanopaper for Wound Dressing: Development, In Vitro Characterization and Antimicrobial Studies.

This research aimed to develop a mupirocin-doped α-cellulose nanopaper (MDAC-NP) as a wound dressing to accelerate wound healing while limiting localized bacterial growth. The α-cellulose nanofibrils suspension was prepared by ultrasonication followed by microfluidization and subsequently doped with 0.05% w/v mupirocin to prepare nanopaper (MDAC-NP-A).

Research about eye health and eye health services in Pacific Island Countries and Territories: a scoping review.

Background: We aimed to summarise the extent and nature of published research about eye health and eye health services in Pacific Island Countries and Territories since 1980.

Methods: We searched Medline, EMBASE, Global Health and Cochrane Library to identify publications about eye health and eye health services in 22 Pacific Island Countries and Territories from 1 January 1980 to 26 January 2024. Study selection and data extraction were conducted by two reviewers independently.

Rethinking Fistula Preservation in Anorectal Malformation Surgery: A Histopathological Perspective.

Objective:  This study aims to assess the histopathological characteristics of the fistulous tissue in males with anorectal malformation (ARM) to determine its suitability for use in constructing a neoanus.

Methods:  This prospective observational study included male ARM patients with recto-urethral fistula. All other types were excluded.

Management of urinary incontinence in girls with congenital pouch colon.

Purpose: This study describes the management of urinary incontinence (UI) in eight girls with congenital pouch colon (CPC) associated with anorectal malformation (ARM).

Methods: From 2013 to 2015, six girls with CPC and UI underwent bladder neck reconstruction (BNR). Four girls had complete UI (CUI) and two girls partial UI (PUI).
