Graftless sinus augmentation technique with contextual placement of implants: a case report.

Introduction: The positioning of implants in the jaw bones with contextual graftless lateral approach sinus lifting is finding an increasingly broad consensus in the literature. Since the 1970s, various clinical research projects have been conducted on applications of biological and synthetic biomaterials in bone regenerative surgery, both in sinus lift procedures and in cystic cavity filling after cystectomy or in bone defects in regenerative periodontal surgery. Currently, we are finding that there is an increasing trend of clinicians aiming to adopt graftless techniques, with satisfactory results in terms of implant survival in the long term.

Unusual symptomatic inclusion cysts in a newborn: a case report.

Introduction: Dental lamina cysts are cysts that occur as white or pink small nodules, often multiple, approximately 1 to 3mm in diameter. They are typically located on the midpalatine raphe and less frequently on the maxillary and mandibular alveolar mucosa; in the latter case these can be appear to be neonatal teeth.On microscopic examination, these lesions show a stratified squamous epithelium (two to three cell layers); it is possible to find protein, keratin and/or exfoliated epithelial cells in the lumen of the lesions.

The effects of ULF-TENS stimulation on gnathology: the state of the art.

Aims: The aim of this study was to evaluate the state of the art in the current literature regarding the effect of ultra low frequency-transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (ULF-TENS) on patients with temporomandibular disorders (TMD).

Methodology: The authors reviewed the literature through a thorough manual and electronic research on PubMed database (using the Medical Subject Headings thesaurus) and subsequent analysis of all the found papers regarding the effect of TENS on TMD patients. No randomized controlled trials on the investigated topic were found.

Odontostomatological approach to the pregnant patient.

Pregnancy is a condition characterized by various physiological modifications (placentary and ovarian hormones release) that influence various organic districts, including the oral district. In this review were re-examined the rules about the execution of dental services with the relative indications and contraindications during the different phases of pregnancy, the use of the ionizing radiations and the pharmacologic therapy during pregnancy, considering the metabolic, anatomical haemodinamic modifications to which the gestant is exposed during this condition and considering the various parameters related to it: the pharmacokinetic modifications, the drug toxicity based on its teratogenic potential, indications, side effects and specific effects of drugs administrated, the toxicological aspects of dental amalgams and the use of the local anaesthetics during pregnancy. The authors conclude that pregnancy is not a contraindication for the dental treatment and existing an increase of oral diseases, the woman must be exposed to more frequent controls.
