Developing a list of core competencies for medical aspects of healthcare delivery in care homes: scoping review and Delphi process.

Background: Care home residents live with frailty and multiple long-term conditions. Their medical management is complex and specialised. We set out to develop a list of core competencies for doctors providing medical care in long-term care homes.

Breast feeding in infants diagnosed with phenylketonuria (PKU): a scoping review.

Background: Phenylketonuria (PKU) is the most common inherited disease of amino acid metabolism, characterised by elevated levels of phenylalanine (Phe). There is a lack of infant feeding guidance for those with PKU. From birth to 6 months of age, breast feeding is the optimal nutrition for an infant and continuing breast feeding for infants with PKU is recommended by European guidelines.

General practitioners' role in improving health care in care homes: a realist review.

Background: Despite recent focus on improving health care in care homes, it is unclear what role general practitioners (GPs) should play. To provide evidence for future practice we set out to explore how GPs have been involved in such improvements.

Methods: Realist review incorporated theory-driven literature searches and stakeholder interviews, supplemented by focussed searches on GP-led medication reviews and end-of-life care.

How do community based dementia friendly initiatives work for people with dementia and their caregivers, and why? A rapid realist review.

Objectives: To describe and explain the outcomes of community dementia friendly initiatives (DFIs) for people with dementia and their caregivers to inform the development and tailoring of DFIs.

Methods: Literature searches on DFIs were performed through two systematic online database searches of PubMed, Embase, ASSIA, CINAHL and Google scholar. Papers were only included if they evaluated outcomes using empirical data from people with dementia or caregivers.
