Article Synopsis
  • Parenting programs can effectively prevent and reduce behavior issues in young children, but many parents initially refuse to participate in such programs, posing a challenge for researchers and clinicians.
  • A study examined the reasons behind parents' refusal to engage in a randomized control trial for the ÉQUIPE parenting program, focusing on sociodemographic, child, and parent characteristics.
  • Results indicated that lower perceived parental efficacy and poorer relationship quality were linked to higher refusal rates, while parents who accepted participation tended to have higher efficacy levels and were more likely to have girls.
