Introduction Benign vocal cord lesions are diagnosed by clinical examination with usually an office-based laryngoscopy examination. The severity of voice impairment can be assessed by severity scores such as the Voice Handicap Index (VHI). These lesions are usually treated by conservative methods such as voice rest/restriction and voice therapy.

Effectiveness of oral vancomycin as prophylaxis against infection in hematopoietic stem cell transplant patients.

Objective: Patients receiving hematopoietic stem cell transplants (HSCT) are at increased risk for infection (CDI). The purpose of this study was to assess the effectiveness of oral vancomycin prophylaxis (OVP) for CDI in HSCT patients.

Maternal stress during pregnancy, or prenatal stress, is a risk factor for neurodevelopmental disorders in offspring, including autism spectrum disorder (ASD). In ASD, dorsal striatum displays abnormalities correlating with symptom severity, but there is a gap in knowledge about dorsal striatal cellular and molecular mechanisms that may contribute. Using a mouse model, we investigated how prenatal stress impacted striatal-dependent behavior in adult offspring.

Neurohistopathological findings of the brain parenchyma after long-term deep brain stimulation: Case series and systematic literature review.

Introduction: Efficacy of deep brain stimulation (DBS) is established for several movement and psychiatric disorders. However, the mechanism of action and local tissue changes are incompletely described. We describe neurohistopathological findings of 9 patients who underwent DBS for parkinsonism and performed a systematic literature review on postmortem pathologic reports post-DBS.
