Antioxidant Particleboards Produced from Forest By-Products with Application in the Food Packaging Industry.

The food packaging industry is one of the fastest growing sectors of our economy, with a large contribution to environmental concerns due to the extensive use of fossil-derived materials. Combining wood-based materials, such as particleboards, with bio-adhesives may offer a great opportunity to develop sustainable packaging solutions with active antioxidant properties. In the present work, a phenolic extract of poplar bark was produced and bio-adhesives were formulated using citric acid as a cross-linker.

Surface roughness of composite resins subjected to brushing with whitening toothpastes: an in vitro study.

The emergence of toothpastes containing different abrasive and whitening substances has been a constant concern among dental professionals. The aim of the present study was to perform an in vitro assessment of the surface topography of nanoparticle composite resins subjected to simulated brushing with dentifrices. Test samples were prepared with Filtek Universal (3M ESPE), Filtek Bulkfill (3M ESPE) and Z350 (3M ESPE), with 24 samples per resin.

Long-term effect of non-invasive brain stimulation on hemispatial neglect, functional outcomes, and mortality after stroke: ELETRON trial extend.

Introduction: Our primary clinical trial indicated that anodal stimulation of the right posterior parietal region associated with specific and perceptual task training was superior to placebo in reducing stroke-induced hemispatial neglect (HN) immediately after the treatment protocol. However, our primary study did not investigate whether this benefit was maintained in the long term after stroke. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the long-term effects of the protocol applied in the ELETRON trial on outcomes associated with HN, functionality, and mortality.

This study aims to provide a synthesis of existing meta-analyses examining the impact of CHD on the cognitive functioning in children and young people; : A comprehensive literature review was conducted, identifying peer-reviewed meta-analyses from 1 January 1976 to 17 December 2024, focusing on the cognitive outcomes of CHD patients aged 0-24 years. Data extraction covered study details, participant demographics, outcomes, and quality assessments.

Valve Thrombosis Following Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement: State-of-the-Art Review.

Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) is a well-established treatment for severe aortic stenosis, especially in patients over 75 or those at high surgical risk. While these prosthetic valves have a lower thrombogenic profile than mechanical heart valves, leaflet thrombosis in transcatheter aortic valves (TAV) occurs in an estimated 5%-40% of cases. Most TAV thromboses are subclinical and can be detected via cardiac computed tomography (CCT), which reveals hypo-attenuating leaflet thickening and reduced leaflet motion in asymptomatic patients without elevated transprosthetic gradients on echocardiography.
