Introduction: Fibromyalgia (FM) and chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) are complex central sensitization syndromes that represent an important public health problem. Low cardiorespiratory fitness and muscle function with habitual intolerance to efforts are common characteristics of FM and CFS. This study aimed to examine the effect of a brief multicomponent intervention based on physical activity (PA), nutrition, and chronobiology on movement behaviors (PA, sedentary and sleep time), muscle strength, and cardiorespiratory capacity.

Background: Accumulating evidence has proposed phase angle (PhA) as a marker for assessing cellular integrity and nutritional status in ulcerative colitis (UC) patients; the aim of the study was to evaluate the efficacy of PhA in assessing nutritional status in patients with UC, investigating its potential as a biomarker of disease activity.

Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional study in patients with UC and healthy controls. We determined PhA by electrical bioimpedance and categorized participants through bioelectrical impedance analysis.

Article Synopsis
  • Frailty is a syndrome in older adults linked to immune decline and inflammation, and it's assessed using the Frailty-VIG index.
  • This study aimed to find out if saliva could serve as a non-invasive source for identifying protein biomarkers related to frailty, using a proteomics technique on a Spanish rural population.
  • Eight proteins (e.g., CYTC, CYTD) were identified in saliva that correlate with frailty characteristics, such as cardiovascular health, obesity, and cognitive impairment, highlighting their potential role in diagnosing and understanding frailty syndrome.
