Neonatal and infant hydrocephalus is an important factor for mortality and morbidity in developing countries with limited diagnostic and therapeutic means. The purpose of this study was to report our experience in the management of this disease in Mauritania. We conducted a retrospective study of 126 medical records of newborns aged 0-24 months treated for hydrocephalus in the Department of Neurosurgery at the Nouakchott National Hospital from June 2014 to June 2018.

We describe the case of a 41 year-old woman who presented with a slight slowness of the right hand movement, which began four months prior to admission. Neurological examination showed slight rest tremor of the right hand, moderate bradykinesia and rigidity. She had been taking medication for Parkinson's disease, but without any benefit.
