[Effect of long-term use of lithium on kidney function].

The effect of lithium and other antipsychotic drugs on the renal function in patients with manic-depressive disorders has been investigated. Thirty-four patients (5 males and 29 females) treated with lithium and 21 patients (6 males and 15 females) on other antipsychotic drugs were studied. A control group of 10 persons consisting of healthy subjects, all of whom were taking no medication was also studied.

Minaprine and imipramine in the treatment of major depressive disorders. A comparative double-blind study.

Minaprine dihydrochloride is an aminopyridazine derivative which is chemically unrelated to other known psychotropic drugs. In rodents minaprine is active in most models of depression and is thought to exert this activity by enhancing serotonergic and dopaminergic transmission. In humans minaprine has been shown to be more effective than placebo in the treatment of major depressive episodes as defined by the DSM-III.

Psychopharmacology of schizophrenia: a European view.

This article describes how psychopharmacological therapy is applied in Yugoslavia and other countries in Central Europe. The first part of the article summarizes experience and customary use of psychopharmacological substances in relation to clinical syndromes, course of disease, and dominant symptoms. In the second part of the article, the experience obtained in treatment with combinations of drugs and in prolonged pharmacotherapy of schizophrenia is described.
