The present study aimed to determine the relationship between circulating progesterone (P4) concentrations and milk yield during the ovulatory follicular wave on the proportion of multiple ovulation in multiparous high-producing Holstein cows (n = 1,345). First-service multiparous cows submitted to a Double-Ovsynch program (GnRH; 7 d later, PGF; 3 d later, GnRH; 7 d later, GnRH [G1]; 7 d later, PGF [PG1]; 1 d later, PGF; ~32 h later, GnRH [G2]; ~16 h later, timed AI [TAI]) were used. To assess ovulatory response and proportion of multiple ovulation (MOV), ovarian ultrasonography examinations were performed at G1 (n = 1,215) and G2 (n = 1,345) and from 40 to 48 h after each GnRH.

Article Synopsis
  • * A study analyzed 174,878 student-athletes to assess the frequency of low scores on a concussion management test (ImPACT) for those with self-reported ADHD and/or LD, comparing them to a control group without these disorders.
  • * Results indicated that student-athletes with LD frequently scored low on the ImPACT (30-37%) and those with both ADHD and LD also showed significant low scoring rates (24-31%), highlighting the need for better understanding of these conditions in concussion assessments.

Background: Klotho, encoded by the gene, is an anti-aging and neuroprotective protein. KL-VS heterozygosity (KL-VS) is hypothesized to be protective against the accumulation of Alzheimer's disease (AD) neuropathological hallmarks (amyloid-β (Aβ) and tau).

Objective: We examine whether being positive for Aβ (A+) or tau (T+), or A/T joint status [positive for Aβ (A + T-), tau (A-T+), both (A + T+) or neither (A-T-)] vary by KL-VS and whether serum klotho protein levels vary based on A+, T+, or A/T status in a cohort enriched for AD risk.

Background: The prevalence of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) has been rising since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, and affects females, sexual and gender minorities, and individuals with social risks at higher rates.

Objective: This study examines if the prevalence of PTSD increased from 2019 to 2022 among patients who received care in a national network of safety-net, community-based health centers with integrated behavioral health programs that serve patients at high risk for PTSD.

Methods: We analyzed electronic health record data from patients with 1 or more behavioral health visits during 2019 to 2022 using repeated cross-sectional data to visualize trends.

Background: Evidence is lacking on the relative contributions of specific lifestyle factors and their overall contribution to prevention of hypertension, in particular early-onset hypertension.

Methods: This prospective cohort study included participants of the Nurses' Health Study (NHS, N = 52,780 women, aged 40-67 in 1986), the NHS II (N = 83,871 women, aged 27-46 in 1991), and the Health Professionals Follow-up Study (HPFS, N = 31,269 men, aged 40-75 in 1986), who were free from hypertension, cardiovascular disease and cancer at baseline. Four modifiable lifestyles were evaluated based on hypertension guidelines: BMI, moderate-to-vigorous physical activity, Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension (DASH) score, and alcohol intake.
