Automated peripheral nerve segmentation for MR-neurography.

Background: Magnetic resonance neurography (MRN) is increasingly used as a diagnostic tool for peripheral neuropathies. Quantitative measures enhance MRN interpretation but require nerve segmentation which is time-consuming and error-prone and has not become clinical routine. In this study, we applied neural networks for the automated segmentation of peripheral nerves.

Comprehensive analysis of Twitter usage during a major medical conference held virtually versus in-person.

Background: Twitter has become one of the most important social media platforms in science communication. During scientific conferences, Twitter can facilitate the communication between audience and speakers present at the venue and can extend the reach of a conference to participants following along from home. To examine whether Twitter activity can serve as a surrogate parameter for attendance at the RSNA conferences in 2019 and in 2020, and to characterize changes in topics discussed due to the virtual character of the 2020 RSNA conference.

Outcomes from the medication assisted treatment pilot program for adults with opioid use disorders in rural Colorado.

Background: As Colorado ranked among the top nationally in non-medical use of opioids, a pilot medication for opioid use disorder (MOUD) program was developed to increase the number of NPs and PAs providing MOUD in order to bring this evidence- based treatment to 2 counties showing disproportionally high opioid overdose deaths. Over the first 18 months, the MOUD Pilot Program led to 15 new health care providers receiving MOUD waiver training and 1005 patients receiving MOUD from the 3 participating organizations. Here we evaluate patient centered clinical and functional outcomes of the pilot MOUD program implemented in 2 rural counties severely affected by the opioid crisis.

From policy to practice: Pilot program increases access to medication for opioid use disorder in rural Colorado.

Medication for opioid use disorder (MOUD) is an important approach to address the opioid crisis, but rural areas have limited access to MOUD. In 2016, Nurse Practitioners (NPs) and Physician Assistants (PAs) became eligible to prescribe buprenorphine. Local and state stakeholders in Colorado, including clinicians, policymakers, law enforcement, and patient advocates, formed a collaborative to develop legislative policy and programs for the opioid epidemic.

Quantifying guideline adherence in mucormycosis management using the EQUAL score.

Objectives: Mucormycosis is a difficult-to-diagnose life-threatening disease with high morbidity and mortality. Adherence to guidelines that lead through complex management and support clinical decisions is however rarely reported. By applying the EQUAL Score, our study evaluates the management of mucormycosis at the University Hospital of Cologne, Germany.
