Hippocampal astrocytes encode reward location.

Astrocytic calcium dynamics has been implicated in the encoding of sensory information, and modulation of calcium in astrocytes has been shown to affect behaviour. However, longitudinal investigation of the real-time calcium activity of astrocytes in the hippocampus of awake mice is lacking. Here we used two-photon microscopy to chronically image CA1 astrocytes as mice ran in familiar or new virtual environments to obtain water rewards.

Microgloma Sanders & Allen, 1973 (Nuculanidae) and Pristigloma Dall, 1900 (Pristiglomidae) (Pelecypoda) in the Campos Basin off Brazil.

As a secondary result of oil prospecting in Brazil, samples from the Campos Basin continental slope became available. In these samples, specimens of the genera Microgloma Sanders & Allen, 1973 and Pristigloma Dall, 1900 were found. This contribution provides the southernmost record of the genus Microgloma, the first record of Microgloma mirmidina (Dautzenberg & Fischer 1897) from the western Atlantic, the descriptions of Microgloma macaronsp.

[Conduction disorders in Cheyne-Stokes respiration caused by cardiac insufficiency].

This report describes a case of Cheyne-Stokes respiration linked to heart failure, with periodic disturbances of atrioventricular conduction during the augmentation phase of the tidal volume. The circulatory retardation caused by heart failure induced a phase lag of the negative retroaction system and secondarily an oscillation in the respiratory command. The conduction disturbances resulted from vagal stimulation of multifactorial origin.
