Purpose: To describe an outbreak of late-onset toxic anterior segment syndrome (TASS) after the implantation of a specific hydrophilic acrylic intraocular lens (IOL).
Setting: University Hospitals of Leuven, Belgium.
Design: Retrospective, single-center, observational study.
We evaluated colour contrast thresholds in patients with unilateral functional amblyopia. A computer-controlled colour vision test was used to determine colour contrast thresholds along a blue-yellow tritan axis. Prior to the threshold measurement, a heterochromatic flicker brightness test was performed to ensure isoluminance between the test stimulus and the background for every subject individually.

A positive ELISA-test for toxocara canis with a titer of 1/200 established the diagnosis. The patient was consecutively treated by pars plana vitrectomy and oral corticosteroids.
