What do parents of nonverbal and minimally verbal autistic children think about genomic autism research?

In Summer 2021, a genomic study of autism, Spectrum 10 K, was paused due to backlash from the autistic and autism communities. This raised important questions about how these communities perceive genomic research. The Personal Experiences of Autism and Perceptions of DNA-based research study was established to address this issue among a range of sub-groups within these communities.

A Portable, Neurostimulation-Integrated, Force Measurement Platform for the Clinical Assessment of Plantarflexor Central Drive.

Plantarflexor central drive is a promising biomarker of neuromotor impairment; however, routine clinical assessment is hindered by the unavailability of force measurement systems with integrated neurostimulation capabilities. In this study, we evaluate the accuracy of a portable, neurostimulation-integrated, plantarflexor force measurement system we developed to facilitate the assessment of plantarflexor neuromotor function in clinical settings. Two experiments were conducted with the Central Drive System (CEDRS).

Doubling the life of Cu/ZnO methanol synthesis catalysts via use of Si as a structural promoter to inhibit sintering.

Cu/ZnO/AlO catalysts used to synthesize methanol undergo extensive deactivation during use, mainly due to sintering. Here, we report on formulations wherein deactivation has been substantially reduced by the targeted use of a small quantity of a Si-based promoter, resulting in accrued activity benefits that can exceed a factor of 1.8 versus unpromoted catalysts.

Counting the Acid Sites in a Commercial ZSM-5 Zeolite Catalyst.

This work investigates the acid sites in a commercial ZSM-5 zeolite catalyst by a combination of spectroscopic and physical methods. The Brønsted acid sites in such catalysts are associated with the aluminum substituted into the zeolite lattice, which may not be identical to the total aluminum content of the zeolite. Inelastic neutron scattering spectroscopy (INS) directly quantifies the concentrations of Brønsted acid protons, silanol groups, and hydroxyl groups associated with extra-framework aluminum species.

An Antiracism Community-Based Participatory Research With Organizations Serving Immigrant and Marginalized Communities, Including Asian Americans and Native Hawaiians/Pacific Islanders in the United States Pacific Northwest: Qualitative Description Study With Key Informants.

Background: Asian American (AA) community leaders, Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander (NH/PI) community leaders, and allies in the United States Pacific Northwest expressed concern that there are families and children from AA communities and NH/PI communities who experience and witness acts of xenophobia and racism. This can cause racial trauma. The long-time practice of aggregating AA and NH/PI data contributes to erasure and makes it challenging to advance health equity, such as allocating resources.
