Oleogels are semi-solid systems that can function both as replacers of trans and saturated fats and/or as carriers of lipophilic bioactive compounds. However, bioactive compounds can affect the structure of the oleogel matrix and this effect depends on the properties of such compounds. Therefore, the aim of this study was to develop oleogels loaded with β-carotene (BC) or resveratrol (R), with low concentrations of glycerol monostearate (GMS, 2-5 wt%) and sunflower oil as organic solvent.

Multiparametric MRI (mpMRI) and prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) PET/CT are complementary imaging modalities used in the presurgical evaluation of patients with prostate cancer (PCa). The purpose of this study was to characterize clinically significant PCa (csPCa) detected and not detected by PSMA PET/CT and mpMRI, focusing on tumors detected solely by PSMA PET/CT and overlooked by mpMRI. We conducted a single-center, retrospective analysis of patients who underwent both PSMA PET/CT and mpMRI within 3 mo of each other and before radical prostatectomy.

Nowadays, there are many reliable characterization techniques for the study of adsorption properties in gas phase. However, the techniques available for the study of adsorption processes in solution, rely on indirect characterization techniques that measure the adsorbate concentration remaining in solution. In this work, we present a sensing method based on the magnetic properties of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) containing paramagnetic metal centres, which stands out for the rapidity, low cost and in situ direct measurement of the incorporated adsorbate within the porous material.

Multifunctional printable biomaterials are at the base of advanced biomedical applications. Chitosan (CHI) and hyaluronic acid (HA) allow the development of polycomplex hydrogels with tailorable properties, including self-healing and controlled drug release. This work correlates and optimizes the mucoadhesive, swelling, biodegradation, mechanical and rheological properties of HA/CHI polycomplex hydrogels with synthesis parameters such as polysaccharide content and complexation time, according to the interaction forces established between both polyelectrolytes.

The combination of oleogelators in oil structuring has an untapped potential, since effective pairs have usually been found by serendipity. The aim of this work was to evaluate the combination of berry (BEW) or sunflower wax (SHW) with glycerol monostearate (GMS) in flaxseed oil (FXO) at 5 and 25 °C. The thermal and mechanical properties, microstructure, and stability of oleogels were investigated.
