Pioglitazone has been shown to be effective in the treatment of glucose and lipid abnormalities in diabetes and decreasing longer-term conversion of impaired glucose tolerance to frank diabetes. Some studies also suggest possible pro-cognitive and antidepressant effects of pioglitazone.
