Groundwater quality assessment for drinking purposes: a case study in the Mekong Delta, Vietnam.

Groundwater serves as an important resource for people in the Mekong Delta, but its quality has been continuously declined from human activities. Current status of the groundwater quality needs to be evaluated for sustainable groundwater resource management. This study aimed to evaluate the groundwater quality for drinking purposes in the Mekong Delta, Vietnam, using multivariate statistical methods and integrated-weight water quality index.

An Extremely Rare and Demanding Diagnosis of Primary Renal Synovial Sarcoma: A Case Report.

Primary renal synovial sarcoma (PRSS) is an extremely rare malignancy. The diagnosis of PRSS is unforeseen due to the absence of clinical and radiological typical aspects. Here, we present a case of a 69-year-old male with complaints of hematuria and left lumbar pain.

Combination of water quality, pollution indices, and multivariate statistical techniques for evaluating the surface water quality variation in Can Tho City, Vietnam.

This study assessed the surface water quality in Can Tho city, Vietnam, using a combination of water quality, pollution indices, and multivariate statistical methods. Surface water samples were collected at 38 locations with a frequency of 4 times in 2020 (March, June, September, and December) and at the time of high and low tides to analyze for 18 indicators. Results showed that surface water in Can Tho city was contaminated with organic matters and microorganisms.

Assessment of pollution levels and ecological potential risk of the soil influenced by landfilling in a Vietnamese Mekong Delta province.

The study was conducted to assess the impacts of Cai Dau and An Cu landfills in An Giang province, Vietnam on soil quality using relative soil quality index (RSQI), potential ecological risk index (PERI), and multivariable statistical methods and associated health risks. Forty-eight soil samples were collected in two layers: A (0-20 cm) and B (60-80 cm) and analyzed for five physiochemical soil parameters and eight heavy metals during the rainy and dry seasons. The results showed that pH fluctuated from weak acid to neutral, and organic matters and nutrients in soil were from poor to moderate.

Rare paediatric case of agenesis of the vermiform appendix, ileal duplication and sickle cell disease.

This study reports an exceptional case of a 14-year-old girl with sickle cell disease that was diagnosed with agenesis of the vermiform appendix and ileal duplication. Both consist of extremely rare gastrointestinal malformations whose association has never been described. The preadolescent girl presented with abdominal pain and vomiting, and the ultrasound was suggestive of acute appendicitis.
