Effect of Hydroxyl-Containing Fragments on the Structure and Properties of Membrane-Forming Polyamide-Imides.

The structural features and thermophysical and transport properties of dense nonporous membranes of the casting type from (co)polyamide-imides synthesized by the polycondensation of the diacid chloride of 2-(4-carboxyphenyl)-1,3-dioxoisoindoline-5-carboxylic acid and diamines 5,5'-methylene-bis (2-aminophenol) (DADHyDPhM) and 4,4'-methylenebis(benzeneamine) (DADPhM), taken in molar ratios of 7:3, 1:1, and 3:7, have been studied. The effect of hydroxyl-containing modifying fragments of dihydroxy diphenylmethane introduced in various amounts into the main polymer chain on the pervaporation properties of the formed films is discussed. It has been shown that the presence of the residual solvent N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone in the films not only has a plasticizing effect on the characteristics of film membranes but also promotes the preferential transmembrane transport of polar liquids, primarily methanol (permeation rate over 2 kg for a copolymer with a ratio of DADHyDPhM:DADPhM = 7:3).

[Cancer of the tongue and floor of the mouth: Current aspects of diagnosis].

The diagnosis and treatment of cancer of the tongue and floor of the mouth is a relevant problem, for 60–80% of patients first seek medical treatment only when they have late stages of the disease. The review analyzes the data available in the Russian and foreign literature on mainstay techniques for radiodiagnosing cancer of the mouth and floor of the mouth. It highlights the capabilities of computed tomography in diagnosing this pathology, in assessing deepseated anatomic structures of the mouth and floor of the mouth, and in detecting metastatic neck lymph nodes.

[Clinical genealogical and molecular genetic study of patients with mental retardation].

The results of clinical, genealogical, cytogenetic and molecular genetic studies of 113 patients from 96 families with different forms of mental retardation from Ukraine are presented. This study was held as part of the CHERISH project of the 7-th Framework Program. The aim of the project is to improve diagnostics of mental retardation in children in Eastern Europe and Central Asia through detailed analysis of known chromosomal and gene's aberrations and to find the new gene-candidates that cause mental retardation.

[Correlation between indices of 24-h monitoring of blood pressure and disturbed venous cerebral outflow in hypertensive patients].

Aim: To study relations between disturbances of cerebral venous circulation and parameters of 24-h blood pressure monitoring in hypertensive patients.

Material And Methods: A total of 72 patients aged 28 to 60 years with essential hypertension of stage II have undergone 24-h blood pressure monitoring and MR-venography of the brachiocephalic veins on a low-field MR-tomograph using 2D TOF angiography.

Results: Symptoms of disturbed cerebral venous circulation were found in 60% patients.

[Cognitive dysfunction and brain perfusion in patients with arterial hypertension: possibilities of pharmacological therapy].

The study included 31 patients with essential hypertension. Twenty-four hours blood pressure monitoring, assessment of neurological status and cognitive functions as well as single photon emission tomography were performed at baseline and three months after treatment. The beta-blocker therapy during 3 months exerted a positive effect on the brain perfusion that resulted in the improvement of cognitive function - verbal and visual memory, attention, psychomotor speed, thinking and visuoconstruction.
