Comparative evaluation of the effect of L-Arginine and L-Homoarginine supplementation on reproductive physiology in ewes.

L-Arginine (LA) is a well-known amino acid involved in vital physiological processes. However, the physiological function of its methylated form known as L-Homoarginine (LHA), is not well understood. The aim of this study was to study the comparative effects of LA and LHA treatment on selected metabolites and parameters of reproductive physiology in non-pregnant ewes.

Importance of cephalographs in diagnosis of patients with sleep apnea.

Introduction: Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is considered to be a potentially life threatening disorder, which is characterized by repeated collapse of the upper airway during sleep with cessation of breathing. The cephalometric method despite being a static, two-dimensional evaluation of dynamic three-dimensional structures of the head and neck is useful in diagnosing patients with OSA, as they have shown that significant differences exist between asymptomatic controls and patients with OSA.

Randomized trial of aloe vera gel vs triamcinolone acetonide ointment in the treatment of oral lichen planus.

Objective: To determine the effectiveness of aloe vera gel in the treatment of oral lichen planus when compared with triamcinolone acetonide.

Method And Materials: A randomized, double-blind, clinical trial was designed. The study sample constituted 40 patients (23 males and 17 females) who were randomly divided into two equal groups.

Effects of chronic systemic administration of opioid peptides, naloxone and N-acetyl beta-endorphin antiserum on gonadotropins and testicular functions in the rat.

Systemic administration of opioid peptides, methionine-enkephalin and beta-endorphin, chronically, lowered gonadotropin levels in plasma and had an inhibitory effect mainly on the testicular enzymes hyaluronidase, acid phosphatase and on incorporation of 3[H] thymidine in the tissue. When rats were similarly treated with opioid peptide antagonist naloxone and N-acetyl beta-endorphin antiserum, induced an opposite effect. This is either the direct effect of opioid peptides/antagonist on the gonads or it may be via the circulating levels of gonadotropin.
