A 24-day-old female Japanese Black calf presented a sudden paraplegia after a history of watery diarrhea. Antemortem magnetic resonance imaging confirmed the suspicion of thrombotic component in the abdominal aorta, without any spinal cord abnormality at the lumbar region. On necropsy, a massive thrombus occupied the lumen from the distal abdominal aorta to the bifurcation of the external iliac arteries.

Respiratory rate monitoring is essential especially for anesthetized animals in veterinary and biomedical research. Current methods often rely on invasive or wearable devices, which can stress animals, especially smaller ones like rodents. Here we present a non-invasive, environmentally integrated device that detects subtle breathing movements through waveform analyzed data via a triaxial accelerometer under a flexible fabric sheet in a trampoline-like box.

Case Summary: A 13-year-old castrated male American Shorthair cat was referred for evaluation following a 3-week history of poor balance and decreased activity. The MRI findings revealed a well-defined left caudal cerebellar mass with a diameter of 1.2 cm, consistent with a meningioma.
