Background: Total hip arthroplasty (THA) accuracy has improved significantly with various advances in computer-assisted equipment (CAE), including robotic systems, computed tomography (CT) navigation, and portable navigation. However, no studies have directly compared the accuracy of acetabular cup placement and its impact on patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) across these three CAE systems. In this study, we aimed to evaluate cup placement accuracy and PROMs in THA using different CAE systems.

Type 2 diabetes is a multifactorial disease caused by insulin resistance and impaired insulin secretion from pancreatic β-cells, but the precise mechanisms remain to be elucidated. To identify primary genetic factors of type 2 diabetes in a rat model, we performed comparative transcriptome and mutation analyses of the pancreatic islets between the obese Zucker fatty rat and the Zucker fatty rat-derived type 2 diabetes model ZFDM rat. Among differentially expressed genes irrespective of obesity and glucose intolerance states, we identified a nonsense mutation, c.

Amoxicillin-associated rash is a well-documented phenomenon in Epstein-Barr virus (EBV)-related infectious mononucleosis. This case highlights a notable course where amoxicillin was administered during the latent phase of EBV infection, and the characteristic rash appeared following the clinical onset of infectious mononucleosis. A seven-year-old girl received amoxicillin for acute otitis media during EBV's latent phase.

Purpose: The infrapatellar fat pad (IFP) absorbs mechanical stress in the knee joint owing to flexible morphological changes. The IFP is a key factor in knee osteoarthritis (OA); however, its dynamic feature during walking remains unknown. This study aimed to investigate whether the morphological changes in the IFP during walking involve specific features for patients with knee OA.

Arthrodesis is a definitive treatment for osteoarthritis of the distal interphalangeal (DIP) joint. The surgical approach is generally performed from the dorsal side of the DIP joint using a Y- or H-shaped incision. However, this approach can lead to relatively noticeable scarring and dorsal tissue complications.
