Introduction: Tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) therapy has greatly improved the prognosis of patients with chronic myeloid leukemia (CML), improving the survival expectancy of patients with chronic phase (CP) CML to that of the general population. However, despite these advances, nearly 50% of patients with CP CML experience failure to respond to frontline therapy, and most fail to respond to the subsequent second-line TKI. The article presents the experience of treatment of newborn children and infants with congenital malformations of the lung and mediastinum, which required a surgery. Children (138 cases) were treated during recent 18 years. There was a prevalence of full-term infants (73%).

Cystic adenomatoid malformations of the lung belong to a group of abnormalities, the only treatment is surgery. This raises the question as to the earliest detection of this lung abnormality in children. Up to the present, there have been cases of late diagnosis of this abnormality masked by an inflammatory process in the lung, its abscess, and even tuberculosis lesion of lung tissue.
