Drug-drug interaction study with itraconazole supplemented with physiologically based pharmacokinetic modelling to characterize the effect of CYP3A inhibitors on venglustat pharmacokinetics.

Aims: Venglustat is an oral glucosylceramide synthase inhibitor under clinical investigation to treat various lysosomal storage diseases. Metabolism is a main pathway for its elimination in humans with CYP3A being the major contributor. This study aims to evaluate effect of CYP3A inhibition (using itraconazole) on venglustat exposure and to develop and validate a physiologically based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) model to assess effects of additional CYP3A inhibitors of varying potencies on venglustat pharmacokinetics.

Serological surveillance of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) antibodies is important to monitor population COVID-19 immunity. Dried blood spots (DBS) are a valuable method for serosurveys, particularly in remote settings and in children. We compared the measurement of SARS-CoV-2 spike-specific IgG in paired blood samples collected using standard venepuncture (serum) and the hemaPEN microsampling DBS device from children and adults.

Study of Children Aged Under 2 Years Admitted With RSV at Four Australian Hospitals [2021-2022].

Aims: Primary aim was to review severe acute respiratory infections (SARI) hospitalisations caused by respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) in children aged < 2 years in paediatric hospitals in Australia. Secondary aims included RSV subtyping, assessing RSV seasonality and contributing to the World Health Organisation's RSV surveillance programme.

Methods: We prospectively reviewed the medical records of children (< 2 years of age) with a confirmed SARI who were admitted to one of four major Australian paediatric hospitals and had a respiratory sample analysed by Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR).

Mature-Aged People in the Rural Health Workforce System: A Systems Modelling Approach.

Objective: The median age of people in rural areas is older than those living in metropolitan areas. Harnessing the potential of the mature-aged population in rural communities may present a uniquely sustainable approach to strengthening the rural health workforce system. The objective of this study was to map the rural health workforce system in Australia and identify the current and potential role of mature-aged people in the workforce system.

Community pharmacy-based buprenorphine programs and pharmacists' roles, knowledge, attitudes, and barriers to providing buprenorphine-related services: A systematic review.

Background: Buprenorphine is an effective medication for treating opioid use disorder (OUD) and reducing opioid-related overdose deaths. Community pharmacies are key access points for buprenorphine, with pharmacists well-positioned to dispense and counsel patients on appropriate use. Recent evidence has identified pharmacists' growing engagement in buprenorphine services; yet, access to buprenorphine and related services in community pharmacies remains limited.
