Bawu decoction () ameliorates benign prostatic hyperplasia in rats.

Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of Bawu Decoction (, BWD, Palmul-tang in Korean) against benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).

Methods: Twenty-four male Wistar rats were divided into 4 groups, with 6 rats in each group. The 4 study groups included sham-operated group (CON), BPH model group, fifinasteride-treated group, and BWD-treated group.

Antiadipogenic Effects of Aster glehni Extract: In Vivo and In Vitro Effects.

Aster glehni (AG) is a Korean traditional herb that grows in Ulleungdo Island, Republic of Korea. None of the several reports on AG include a determination of the effect of AG on adipogenesis. The primary aim of this study was to determine whether AG attenuates adipogenesis in mouse 3T3-L1 cells and epididymal fat tissue.

Molecular mechanisms underlying the anti-obesity potential of prunetin, an O-methylated isoflavone.

Prunetin is an O-methylated isoflavone, which is a type of flavonoid. There are a limited number of reports detailing the biological activities of prunetin. Although an anti-inflammatory effect of prunetin has been reported in vitro, to our knowledge, there have been no reports on anti-adipogenic effects of prunetin in obese animals.
