The goal of this study is to present our long-term results of stenting of iliocaval occlusive lesions persisting after surgical venous thrombectomy.
Methods: From November 1995 to April 2007, 29 patients (19 women), with a median age of 38 years, had surgical venous thrombectomy with creation of an arteriovenous fistula and angioplasty and stenting.
Objective: This study was undertaken to evaluate the adequacy of a hospital formulated oral morphine preparation for management of neonatal abstinence syndrome (NAS) and to compare clinical features in infants exposed to methadone or buprenorphine in utero.
Method: Between October 1998 and October 2004 all infants born to mothers treated with buprenorphine or methadone during pregnancy were enrolled into this prospective study. Morphine hydrochloride solution (0.
Study Objective: To evaluate the impact on morbidity and mortality of pulmonary contusion in multiple-trauma patients with severe head trauma.
Design: Matched-paired, case-control study
Setting: ICU at a tertiary university hospital.
Patients: During a 3-year period, 313 consecutive multiple-trauma patients with severe head trauma (Glasgow coma scale [GCS], = 8) who were admitted to the ICU.
Objective: To assess the adequacy of empirical antimicrobial therapy prescribed in septic shock patients and to evaluate the relationship between inadequate antimicrobial therapy and 30-day mortality.
Design: Prospective observational study.
Setting: Medical-surgical (16-bed) intensive care unit in an urban teaching hospital.
Objective: Ventilator-associated pneumonia is said to be associated with an increased mortality or a prolonged intensive care unit stay. In multiple trauma, the use of selective digestive decontamination has been reported to decrease morbidity and mortality associated with pneumonia. We performed a study to evaluate the attributable morbidity and mortality of ventilator-associated pneumonia in multiple trauma patients with head trauma treated with selective digestive decontamination.
