For the period of 6 years we have 110 patients with recurrent bile duct stones (BDS). [The surgical tactics of treatment of the choledocholithiasis, complicated by the obstructive jaundice, in patients with the altered bilioduodenal anatomy].

The treatment results of 69 patients with the altered bilioduodenal anatomy and choledocholithiasis, complicated by the obstructive jaundice, were analyzed. The anatomic changes were determined by the previous gastric resection or gastrectomy, biliodigestive anastomosis, bile duct strictures, pyloric stenosis, duodenal diverticulum or the Mirizzi syndrome. The surgical approach depended on the type and extent of anatomic changes.

[Ultrastructure and phylogeny of colpodellids (Colpodellida, Alveolata)].

The structure of cells of the predatory flagellates Colpodella pseudoedax and C. unguis was studied. The cell was found to contain two heterodynamic flagellae, three-membrane pellicle, micropores, subpellicular microtubulae, microtubular open conoid, roptries, micronemes, extrusive organelles (trichocysts), and mitochondria with tubular cristae.

The structure of ejective organelles (extrusomes) in 12 species of heterotrophic flagellates belonging to 8 taxonomic groups is considered. [Hemostatic provision of surgical treatment of juvenile angiofibromas of the skull base in children].

For three years we operated sixty two 7-16-year-old children for angiofibroma of the base of the skull. To reduce the risk of massive intra- and postoperative bleeding, we used preoperative endovascular occlusion of the vessels carrying blood to the tumor. In addition to preventive administration of vicasol, ethamsilate, dicinon and transamine, we used highly effective hemostatic drugs tahocomb and novo-seven intraoperatively in case of massive blood loss.

The phylogeny of colpodellids (Alveolata) using small subunit rRNA gene sequences suggests they are the free-living sister group to apicomplexans.

In an attempt to reconstruct early alveolate evolution, we have examined the phylogenetic position of colpodellids by analyzing small subunit rDNA sequences from Colpodella pontica Myl'nikov 2000 and Colpodella sp. (American Type Culture Collection 50594). All phylogenetic analyses grouped the colpodellid sequences together with strong support and placed them strongly within the Alveolata.

The analysis of ultrastructure organisation and divergent processes in Colpodellida, Perkinsida, Gregarinea and Coccidea has confirmed the presence of unique basic structures in all of these organisms and the necessity to combine them into the single phylum Sporozoa. A taxonomic rank and place of Colpodellida in the system of living organisms is represented as follows: phylum Sporozoa Leuckart, 1879; em. Krylov, Mylnikov, 1986.

[Use of x-ray endovascular occlusion in combined treatment of juvenile angiofibroma of the skull base in children].

Of a total of 103 patients with juvenile angiofibroma of the base of the skull surgical treatment was given to 98 children. 10 operations were performed after preoperative roentgeno-endovascular occlusion (REO) of the tumor afferent vessels. Such occlusion in the region of a maxillaris was a sufficient measure to warrant a 2-fold reduction in the intraoperative blood loss and was achieved with hydrogel spheres and cylinders 0.

[The detectability of the hepatitis B surface antigen and antibodies to the hepatitis C virus in serviceman blood donors].

Blood tests on HBsAg and anti-HCV were conducted in two groups of donors. The first group: 13677 servicemen, average age--20, constant place of residence--different regions of Russia. The second group: 1810 men (70%) and women (30%), average age--37, Moscow residence.

[Characteristics of the pain sensitivity in patients with accompanying allergic diseases prior to stomatologic surgery].

The studies were performed on 161 patients with allergosis, aged 18 to 60 years. The severity of allergosis was the most significant clinical sign affecting the pain sensitivity of the patients under study. All the patients with allergoses were characterized by a higher psychoemotional response to pain stimuli than patients without the accompanying pathology.

[Experimental study of a new method of endolymphatic antibiotic administration and a trial of its clinical use].

A new procedure for antibiotic administration via endolymphatic route was developed. Experiments performed on 34 dogs revealed differences in the pharmacokinetics of gentamicin in the central lymph after its administration in a dose of 4 mg/kg via endolymphatic and intramuscular routes: the maximum levels of 590 and 23 mg/kg were determined in 15 and 45 minutes respectively. In 1 hour the concentrations decreased to 17 and 10 mg/kg.
