Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the link between motor subtypes of Parkinson's disease (PD) and the severity of depressive symptoms, suggesting that non-motor symptoms, particularly related to sleep, are critical to understanding patient disability.
  • It involved 64 PD patients categorized into two groups: those with postural instability and gait disorder (PIGD) and those with other motor symptoms, using various assessment tools to measure sleep quality and mood.
  • Results showed that PIGD patients experienced more severe depressive symptoms and poorer sleep quality, indicating that sleep issues could predict higher depression severity in PD patients.

Background: Patients with multiple sclerosis (MS) are a high-risk group for neuropathic pain.

Objective: to investigate predictors of neuropathic dysesthetic pain (NDP) occurrence and chronification in patients with MS during a 2-year observation period.

Methods: After the exclusion criteria application and signing of informed consent, we recruited in the study 241 patients among which 23 patients prematurely stopped participating in the study.

Objective: The aim of this study were to assess clinical (cutaneous allodynia) and neurophysiological (R2 nBR component) markers of the nociceptive trigeminal-cervical pathway sensitization in the abdominally obese patients with episodic (EM) and chronic migraine (CM).

Patients And Methods: Materials and methods: It had been recorded nBR within interictal period in 79 migraineurs with EM and CM who had abdominal obesity (AO) and normal body weight (NBW).

Results: Results: Patients with EM and AO had significantly lower pain thresholds than patients with EM and NBW - 0,55 (0,34-0,63) μV vs 0,70 (0,59-1,03) μV.

Objective: Introduction: Post-stroke fatigue (PSF) is a common and often debilitating sequel of both ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes. The aim: Assess the rates and intensities of PSF over the second half year after stroke.

Patients And Methods: Materials and methods: There were examined 128 patients at 6, 9 and 12 months after ischemic or hemorrhagic stroke onset.

Introduction: Post-stroke fatigue (PSF) is a common stroke complication with long-term negative consequences.

Aim: Assess the rates of certain PSF domains within first 3 months after different acute cerebrovascular events (ACE) and identify clinical factors associated with each PSF domain.

Material And Methods: There were examined 285 patients (195 with ischemic strokes, 39 with hemorrhagic strokes and 51 with transient ischemic attacks (TIA)) consequently at hospital stay, in 1 month and in 3 months after ACE.
