A frontal swelling with a cautionary tale.

Frontal sinus mucoceles are the most common paranasal mucoceles. They consist of sterile mucus and shed cells and form due to inflammatory changes or chronic nasofrontal duct obstruction. Coincident infection and expansile growth can lead to specific clinical features dependent upon the location of the lesion and the degree of spread.

Massive sublingual hematoma secondary to anticoagulant therapy complicated by a traumatic denture: a case report.

Introduction: Sublingual hematoma secondary to excessive anticoagulation is a rare but potentially fatal condition, and few cases have been documented in the literature.

Case Presentation: We report the case of a 73-year-old Caucasian woman who attended our Accident and Emergency department with massive sublingual hematoma causing superior displacement of the tongue. The condition was found to be the result of an elevated international normalized ratio, further complicated by a traumatic mandibular denture.

Oral mucosal response to exposure to diquat: a rare occupational injury.

Diquat is a quaternary ammonium herbicide closely related to paraquat, and is used commonly by commercial and domestic gardeners. The systemic toxicity of this group of compounds is well-known, but isolated human oral mucosal responses to topical exposure are not well-reported. We present details of an accidental mucosal exposure to diquat during manufacture and the resultant injury, and give guidance for appropriate management of such an exposure.
