Analysis of Readmissions Due to VTE-Using Hospital Data to Improve VTE Prophylaxis Compliance: A Quality Improvement Project.

Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is a preventable cause of mortality and morbidity. We performed a retrospective analysis of patient records to identify those readmitted with a diagnosis of VTE within 6 months of the primary admission. The records were evaluated to see whether thromboprophylaxis had been provided to patients at high risk for VTE.
