Introduction: Routine outpatient follow-up visits for surgical patients are a source of strain on health-care resources and patients. With the COVID-19 pandemic adding a new urgency to finding the safest follow-up arrangement, text message follow-up might prove an acceptable alternative to a phone call or an in-person clinic visit.
Methods: An open-label, three-arm, parallel randomized trial was conducted.
Small-cell neuroendocrine carcinoma is a high-grade carcinoma rarely encountered in extra-pulmonary sites. A 40-year-old lady presented with epigastric pain and was noted to have an ulcerated small-cell neuroendocrine carcinoma in her duodenum with liver metastases. She underwent palliative chemotherapy but unfortunately passed away.

Introduction: Benign cystic mesothelioma or peritoneal inclusion cysts are rare benign abdominal tumors usually occurring in females of reproductive age. These cysts present as abdominopelvic pain or masses but are often found on imaging or incidentally at surgery. Method: Between October 2001 and August 2003, 137 patients (74 women; mean age 70 years, range 43-92) with critical limb ischemia underwent subintimal angioplasty (n=88) or bypass surgery (n=49) for superficial femoral artery (SFA) or aortoiliac lesions. All patients had lesions classified as C or D according to the TransAtlantic Inter-Society Consensus.
