Background: Tuberculosis (TB) among women and infants during the perinatal period is not rare, particularly in countries with a high TB burden. And the risk would increase significantly following in vitro fertilization-embryo transfer (IVFET). Worse still, TB in this stage is apt to develop into severe forms in women and neonates, such as disseminated TB or tuberculous meningitis (TBM).

Diagnosis of intracranial tuberculoma remains a challenge due to its rarity, non-specific clinical presentation, and radiological findings. Herein, we describe a case of intracranial tuberculomas in a male diabetic patient who presented headache and vomiting on admission. Neuroimaging findings indicated multiple ring contrast-enhanced lesions with extensive perilesional edema.

Unlabelled: Tuberculous meningitis (TBM) is a prevalent global intracranial infection and the most lethal and disabling form of tuberculosis. TBM with mixed intracranial infections is clinically rare but has a higher mortality rate. To investigate the clinical characteristics of TBM with mixed intracranial infections, demographic and clinical data of TBM and pulmonary tuberculosis (PTB) patients admitted to Shenzhen Third People's Hospital between January 2015 and October 2022 were collected anonymously.

One-fourth of the world's population has been infected with (). Although interferon-gamma release assays (IGRAs) have been shown to be valid methods for identifying infection and auxiliary methods for diagnosis of active tuberculosis (TB), lower sensitivity and higher indeterminate rate were often detected among immunosuppressed patients. IP-10 was an alternative biomarker due to the higher expression level after antigen stimulation, but whether mRNA (the gene that transcribes for the IP-10 protein) can be used as a target for infection diagnosis was limited.

Background: The morbidity of rifampicin/multidrug-resistant tuberculous meningitis (RR/MDR-TBM) has shown an increasing trend globally. Its mortality rate is significantly higher than that of non-rifampicin/multidrug-resistant tuberculous meningitis (NRR/MDR-TBM). This article aimed to explore risk factors related to RR/MDR-TBM, and compare therapeutic effects of linezolid (LZD)- and non-linezolid-containing regimen for RR/MDR-TB patients in Shenzhen city.

Objective: To investigate the phenotype, frequency and function of CD4+ T cell subsets and the relevant cytokines, as well as the relationship between these cells and appearance of pneumonia of novel (H1N1) influenza A patients.

Methods: 68 healthy people, 53 confirmed novel A(H1N1) influenza patients without pneumonia and 16 confirmed severe novel A (H1N1) influenza patients with pneumonia were enrolled in this study. Viral load in nasopharyngeal swabs specimens was measured by real time PCR assay.
