Assessment of serum biotin levels and its association with blood glucose in gestational diabetes mellitus.

Aim: The incidence of gestational diabetes mellitus is increasing worldwide. Biotin is shown to improve glycemic status in diabetes mellitus. We wanted to study whether there is a difference in biotin levels between mothers with and without gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM), association of biotin with blood glucose, and with the outcome of GDM.

Short-duration podcasts as a supplementary learning tool: perceptions of medical students and impact on assessment performance.

Background: Use of podcasts has several advantages in medical education. Podcasts can be of different types based on their length: short (1-5 min), moderate (6-15 min) and long (>15 min) duration. Short-duration podcasts are unique since they can deliver high-yield information in a short time.

Background: Recently various studies have demonstrated the role of promoter associated non-coding RNAs (pRNA) in dsRNA induced transcriptional gene silencing and activation. However the exact mechanistic details of these processes with respect to the orientation of pRNAs are poorly defined.

Methodology/principal Findings: We have identified novel sense and antisense long control region (LCR) associated RNAs (pRNAs) in HPV18 positive cervical cancer cell lines HeLa, C-4 I and C-4 II.
