Efficacy and safety of an inactivated whole-virion SARS-CoV-2 vaccine (CoronaVac): interim results of a double-blind, randomised, placebo-controlled, phase 3 trial in Turkey.

Background: CoronaVac, an inactivated whole-virion SARS-CoV-2 vaccine, has been shown to be well tolerated with a good safety profile in individuals aged 18 years and older in phase 1/2 trials, and provided a good humoral response against SARS-CoV-2. We present the interim efficacy and safety results of a phase 3 clinical trial of CoronaVac in Turkey.

Methods: This was a double-blind, randomised, placebo-controlled phase 3 trial.

Prognostic value of right ventricular strain pattern on ECG in COVID-19 patients.

Objective: COVID-19 spread worldwide, causing severe morbidity and mortality and this process still continues. The aim of this study to investigate the prognostic value of right ventricular (RV) strain in patients with COVID-19.

Methods: Consecutive adult patients admitted to the emergency room for COVID-19 between 1 and 30 April were included in this study.

Prognostic significance of cardiac injury in COVID-19 patients with and without coronary artery disease.

Objective: COVID-19 is a disease with high mortality, and risk factors for worse clinical outcome have not been well-defined yet. The aim of this study is to delineate the prognostic importance of presence of concomitant cardiac injury on admission in patients with COVID-19.

Methods: For this multi-center retrospective study, data of consecutive patients who were treated for COVID-19 between 20 March and 20 April 2020 were collected.

[A case of persistent urinary schistosomiasis transmitted through Lake Malawi].

There are only few urinary schistosomiasis cases reported from Turkey. These recently diagnosed cases are either associated with overseas journeys or observed in foreign citizens visiting our country as afflicted with disease from abroad. Our case was infected when working in Africa and was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma of the bladder by mistake at the outset.
