This study evaluates the protective effects of sinapic acid (SA), a polyphenolic compound with diverse biological activities, against ethanol-induced gastric ulcers in rats. A gastric ulcer model was established using ethanol (ETH), and the experimental groups received either omeprazole (OMEP, 20 mg/kg) or SA at doses of 20 mg/kg and 40 mg/kg via oral gavage for 14 days. Biochemical markers, including total antioxidant status (TAS), total oxidant status (TOS), oxidative stress index (OSI), malondialdehyde (MDA), and myeloperoxidase (MPO) activity, were assessed alongside proinflammatory cytokines (tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β), and IL-6) using ELISA.

This study investigates the genetic causes of epilepsy in 166 paediatric patients under the age of 16 from the East Anatolian region of Turkey, who were treated at Erzurum City Hospital between 2018 and 2023. Patients with early-onset seizures, a family history of epilepsy or intellectual disability was selected for genetic analysis using a next-generation sequencing (NGS) gene panel targeting 449 genes associated with epilepsy and epileptic encephalopathy. The analysis revealed that pathogenic or probable pathogenic mutations were present in 14.

ABTRACTThis study retrospectively reviews individuals diagnosed with biotinidase deficiency in Eastern Anatolia to analyze the genetic variants and their relationship with biotinidase activity levels. The research focuses on determining the percentage impact of different variants on enzyme activity. The study included 357 patients who presented to Erzurum City Hospital with symptoms of biotinidase deficiency between 2018 and 2023 and were referred to the medical genetics department.

Aim: This study assessed the efficacy of costunolide (COST) against oxidative tissue damage in the ovarian torsion/detorsion (TD) model.

Methodology: Animals were randomly assigned to sham, ovarian TD, COST 5 mg/kg + ovarian TD, and COST 10 mg/kg + ovarian TD groups. COST's effectiveness was determined by assessing oxidative stress markers, interleukin levels, and histopathological examinations.

Objective: Methamphetamine use disorder (MUD) is a global health condition that impairs a person's health which may result in morbidity and mortality. Inflammation is a crucial process playing a vital role in MUD. For this reason, it is necessary to examine biochemical parameters for follow-up and treatment alternatives.

Objectives: Sepsis poses a significant threat to human life, rendering it a burdensome medical disease. Despite significant advancements, the current state of medical science still lacks a viable and efficacious cure. Costunolide (COST) is a multifaceted sesquiterpene lactone that exhibits a range of actions, including anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.

Multidrug-resistant bacteria is one of the most important public health problems. Increasing rates of antibacterial resistance also affect the outcomes of medical approaches. Cancer treatment because of immune system deficiency (chemotherapy or steroids usage) commonly can cause infection.

Objectives: Renal ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) is a vital health condition leading to acute kidney injury. Costunolide (COST) is an actively used molecule clinically for its anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and immunomodulatory properties. In the present study, we searched for the possible protective effects of COST against renal ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury in rats.

Background: Renal ischemia-reperfusion (IR) related acute kidney injury (AKI) is an important health problem and has not yet been fully treated. Tarantula cubensis extract (TCE) is a homeopathic drug that has antiinflammatory and antioxidant effects. This study aimed to investigate the effects of TCE on renal ischemia-reperfusion injury in rats.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study focused on ovarian ischemia-reperfusion (I-R) injury and its potential to cause damage to the lungs, exploring the protective effects of apocynin, a NADPH oxidase inhibitor, on this process in rats.
  • - After inducing bilateral ovarian I-R for 3 hours, researchers observed an increase in markers of oxidative stress and inflammation in lung tissue, linking I-R to enhanced damage related to apoptosis.
  • - Administering apocynin improved the recovery of lung tissue from oxidative damage, leading to better histological outcomes and reduced apoptosis in the I-R affected rats.

Objectives: This study aimed to determine anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antiapoptotic properties of urapidil (Ura) against ovarian torsion detorsion (T/D) injury in rats.

Materials And Methods: 40 female Wistar albino rats were grouped as sham, T/D, T/D+dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), T/D+Urapidil (Ura) 0.5 mg/kg (low dose), and T/D+Urapidil (Ura) 5 mg/kg (high dose) groups.

Background: Gastric ulcer is a very common gastrointestinal disease that may be dangerous and even may lead to death. The current study was conducted to detect the prophylactic effects of agomelatine on indomethacin-induced gastric ulcer.

Methods: In this study, a total of 5 groups were created as the sham, ulcer, omeprazole, agomelatine 1 mg/kg and agomelatine 5 mg/kg groups.

Aim: Kidney ischemia reperfusion (IR) injury is an important health problem resulting in acute kidney failure. The oxidative stress and inflammatory process are the underlying mechanisms of IR injury. It has been purposed in this study to research the possible protective effects of fraxin on kidney injury induced by IR.

In this study, we evaluated the anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory effect of caftaric acid against ulcer produced by indomethacin in gastric mucosa. Female Sprague Dawley albino rats were divided into five groups: control (saline group, n = 8), negative control (indomethacin group, n = 8), positive control (omeprazole group, n = 8), low dose therapy (caftaric acid, n = 8), and high dose therapy (caftaric acid, n = 8). At the end of the experiment, all rats were sacrificed and gastric mucosa samples were removed for macroscopic and biochemical analysis.
