Article Synopsis
  • The demand for diagnostic imaging services in the U.S. surged in 2022, leading to a scheduling backlog that increased the average interval from 2 weeks to 6 weeks.
  • A quality improvement initiative aimed to cut this interval to 10 days by January 2023, implementing strategies like double-booking slots and standardizing protocols, which ultimately reduced the interval to 3 days.
  • These interventions not only raised examination volumes by 19% (adding about $1.6 million in revenue) but also maintained consistent appointment delays, receiving positive feedback from staff.

The arcuate fasciculus may be subdivided into a tract directly connecting frontal and temporal lobes and a pair of indirect subtracts in which the fronto-temporal connection is mediated by connections to the inferior parietal lobe. This tripartition has been advanced as an improvement over the centuries-old consensus that the lateral dorsal association fibers form a continuous system with no discernible discrete parts. Moreover, it has been used as the anatomical basis for functional hypotheses regarding linguistic abilities.

Secondary primary malignancies (SPM) have been reported after anti-BCMA or anti-CD19 chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)-T-cell therapies. While the cytotoxic effect of antecedent therapies, including chemotherapy and radiotherapy, has been well established, few data are available on risk related to CAR-T immunotherapies. The study aimed to analyse the incidence of SPM in 651 patients enrolled in the Italian prospective observational CART-SIE study.

Article Synopsis
  • - The ELOQUENT-3 trial found that the combination of elotuzumab, pomalidomide, and dexamethasone (EloPd) is more effective and safer than pomalidomide and dexamethasone (Pd) for treating relapsed/refractory multiple myeloma (RRMM) patients who have undergone at least two prior therapies.
  • - An 18-month follow-up of 319 RRMM patients treated with EloPd in Italy revealed that 66.4% experienced disease progression or death, with median progression-free survival and overall survival recorded at 7.5 and 19.2 months, respectively.
  • - While EloPd remains a viable treatment option,

Effortful control (EC) is a dimension of temperament that encompass individual differences in self-regulation and the control of reactivity. Much research suggests that EC has a strong foundation on the development of executive attention, but increasing evidence also shows a significant contribution of the rearing environment to individual differences in EC. The aim of the current study was to predict the development of EC at 36 months of age from early attentional and environmental measures taken in infancy using a machine learning approach.

The fate of photogenerated charges within ferroelectric metal oxides is key for photocatalytic applications. The authors study the contributions of i) tetragonal distortion, responsible for spontaneous polarization, and ii) point defects, on charge separation and recombination within BaTiO (BTO) nanocrystals of cubic and tetragonal structure. Electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) in combination with O photoadsorption experiments show that BTO nanocrystals annealed at 600 °C have a charge separation yield enhanced by a factor > 10 compared to TiO anatase nanocrystals of similar geometries.

Objectives: The integrity of cortical motor networks and their descending effector pathway (the corticospinal tract [CST]) is a major determinant motor recovery after stroke. However, this view neglects the importance of ascending tracts and their modulatory effects on cortical physiology. Here, we explore the role of such a tract that connects dopaminergic ventral tegmental midbrain nuclei to the motor cortex (the VTMC tract) for post-stroke recovery.
