Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a significant public health problem and it is known that the identification of molecular markers involved in glycemic control can impact disease control. Although the rs266729 polymorphism located in the promoter of the adiponectin gene (ADP) has been shown to be a candidate for involvement in glycemic control, the genotypic groups have never been characterized in terms of metabolomic aspects. Objective: Analyze the metabolites present in the rs266729 genotype groups.

Introduction: The prevalence of hypertension and obesity are a worldwide concern.

Objetives: Assess the metabolites profile after intervention with mixed dietary fiber in overweight and obese normotensive women.

Methods: This is a randomized double blind placebo-controlled study.

Metabolomics has been increasingly used to evaluate metabolic changes associated with morbidities. The objective of this study is to assess the metabolic profile before and after intervention with mixed dietary fiber in overweight and obese hypertensive women. This is an intervention study, and the sample consists of 14 women aged 28 to 58 years.

Methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase () C677T polymorphism associated with body fat accumulation could possibly trigger an inflammatory process by elevating homocysteine levels and increasing cytokine production, causing several diseases. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of food intervention, and not folate supplements, on the levels of tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), interleukin-6 (IL-6), and interleukin-1β (IL-1β) in overweight and obese women with the C677T polymorphism. A randomized, double-blind eight-week clinical trial of 48 overweight and obese women was conducted.

Background: Excess weight is a strong risk factor for the development of dysglycaemia. It has been suggested that changes in the metabolism microRNAs, small non-coding RNAs that regulate gene expression, could precede late glycaemic changes. Vitamin E in turn may exert important functions in methylation and gene expression processes.

Background: DNA methylation has been evidenced as a potential epigenetic mechanism related to various candidate genes to development of obesity. Therefore, the objective of this study was to evaluate the DNA methylation levels of the ADRB3 gene by body mass index (BMI) in a representative adult population, besides characterizing this population as to the lipid profile, oxidative stress and food intake.

Methods: This was a cross-sectional population-based study, involving 262 adults aged 20-59 years, of both genders, representative of the East and West regions of the municipality of João Pessoa, Paraíba state, Brazil, in that were evaluated lifestyle variables and performed nutritional, biochemical evaluation and DNA methylation levels of the ADRB3 gene using high resolution melting method.

Considering the scarcity of data on the relationship between hemoglobin, serum retinol and habitual meat consumption in the elderly, a cross-sectional population-based study was performed, which was representative of the population of a state capital in Northeastern Brazil, including 176 elderly aged between 60 and 90 years, who responded to questionnaires about habitual food consumption and socioeconomic aspects. Blood counts and serum retinol analyses were carried out. The prevalence of anemia was 9.
