Background: The rate of germination and other physiological characteristics of seeds that are germinating are impacted by deep sowing. Based on the results of earlier studies, conclusions were drawn that deep sowing altered the physio-biochemical and agronomic characteristics of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.).

Unlabelled: Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) is the most technically demanding endoscopic procedure with significant adverse events that mandate appropriate training, competence and careful decision-making. The American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) and the European Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ESGE) updated a list of quality indicators and performance measures for pancreatobiliary endoscopy. Nevertheless, real-life data are scarce, especially from developing countries.

Background Upper gastrointestinal bleeding (UGIB) represents a substantial clinical and economic burden and rebleeding is one of the most important predictors of morbidity and mortality. Identifying patients who are likely to rebleed is a critical component of effectively managing patients with bleeding peptic ulcers. So, the study was undertaken to look for predictors of rebleeding in patients with bleeding peptic ulcers and try to find out the new scoring system to predict rebleeding in our population.

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a global problem that also includes countries of the Arabian Peninsula. Of particular concern, is the continuing development of extended-spectrum β-lactamases (ESBLs) in the countries of this region. Additionally, antibiotic treatment options for ESBL-producing bacteria are becoming limited, primarily due to the continuing development of carbapenem resistance (CR), carbapenems being frequently used to treat such infections.

Crop quality and nutrient uptake are considerably influenced by fertilizers inputs and their application rate. Biochar (BC) improves nitrogen uptake and crop productivity. However, its interaction with synthetic and organic fertilizers in calcareous soil is not fully recognized.

Background And Aims: High-dose rectal diclofenac suppository and epinephrine spray on duodenal papilla during endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) may reduce the incidence of post-ERCP pancreatitis. We performed randomized trial to compare the effect of combination of rectal diclofenac and epinephrine spray on papilla (group A) vs. combination of rectal diclofenac with saline spray (group B) for prevention of post-ERCP pancreatitis.

Objective: The aim of this study was to retrospectively characterize and isolates obtained from neonates during a suspected NICU outbreak of infection in Ha'il, Saudi Arabia during a period of one month (April 2014).

Methods: Antibiotic susceptibility patterns, molecular characterization for antibiotic-resistant genes (TEM, SHV, and CTX-M), and genotyping by PFGE and MLST were performed.

Results: A total of 24 and 48 isolates were cultured from neonates that had been admitted to the NICU.

(Okra) is an important vegetable crop, widely cultivated around the world due to its high nutritional significance along with several health benefits. Different parts of okra including its mucilage have been currently studied for its role in various therapeutic applications. Therefore, we aimed to develop and characterize the okra mucilage biopolymer (OMB) for its physicochemical properties as well as to evaluate its in vitro antidiabetic activity.

Herbs and spices have been used since antiquity for their nutritional and health properties, as well as in traditional remedies for the prevention and treatment of many diseases. Therefore, this study aims to perform a chemical analysis of both essential oils (EOs) from the seeds of () and () and evaluate their antioxidant, antimicrobial, anti-acetylcholinesterase, and antidiabetic activities alone and in combination. Results showed that the EOs mainly constitute monoterpenes with γ-terpinene (31.

species are known to have antimicrobial, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-diabetic as well as anticancer effects. However, no study has examined the cytotoxic and anti-metastatic efficacy of to date. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the potential anti-metastatic properties of ethanol crude extract of in human non-small-cell lung (A-549) and colorectal cancer (HCT-116) cells with possible mechanisms.

: The multidrug resistant (MDR) bacterial pathogenic infection is one of the chief worldwide public health threat to humanity. The development of novel antibiotics against MDR Gram negative bacteria has reduced over the last half century. Research is in progress regarding the treatment strategies that could be engaged in combination with antibiotics to extend the duration of these life-saving antibacterial agents.

Fecal impaction is common in elderly, bed ridden, schizoaffective patients on antipsychotics. Intestinal obstruction due to distal colonic fecaliths is rare as it is amenable to digital manual evacuation and enemas. Our patient presented with abdominal distention, with last bowel evacuation reported 3 months ago.

In order to obtain more information on the MRSA population structure in the border region of Afghanistan and Pakistan, we collected and genotyped MRSA causing bloodstream infections from a tertiary care hospital in Peshawar, Pakistan, that serves the local population as well as Afghan immigrants and refugees. Thirty-one MRSA isolates from 30 patients were included and characterized by microarray hybridisation. For 25 patients, serum samples were tested using protein microarrays in order to detect antibodies against staphylococcal virulence factors.

Background: Little is known about the prevalence of hepatitis B virus (HBV) and hepatitis C virus (HCV) infections in Ladakh, a mountainous region with low population density. We, therefore, determined these and tried to identify risk factors associated with these infections.

Methods: Randomly selected residents of Ladakh region were tested for hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg), antibodies to hepatitis B core antigen (anti-HBc) and antibodies to HCV (anti-HCV).

Minimization functionals related to Euler's elastica energy has a broad range of applications in computer vision and image processing. This paper proposes a novel Euler's elastica and curvature-based variational model for image restoration corrupted with multiplicative noise. It combines Euler's elastica curvature with a Weberized total variation (TV) regularization and gets a novel Euler's elastica energy and TV-based minimization functional.

Table eggs are nutritionally important food consumed globally. Despite being protected inside the hard shell and a semipermeable membrane, the egg contents may be contaminated with microbes and thus become a possible carrier of infectious agents to humans. A number of medically significant bacterial species such as Salmonella enterica, Listeria monocytogenes, and Yersinia enterocolitica have already been reported from table eggs.

This paper proposes a new variational model for joint multiplicative denoising and deblurring. It combines a total generalized variation filter (which has been proved to be able to reduce the blocky-effects by being aware of high-order smoothness) and shearlet transform (that effectively preserves anisotropic image features such as sharp edges, curves and so on). The new model takes the advantage of both regularizers since it is able to minimize the staircase effects while preserving sharp edges, textures and other fine image details.
