The study analyzed traffic-related pedestrian injuries (TRPI) in Qatar, focusing on 420 cases out of 4077 patients admitted to a trauma center between November 2007 and March 2010.
Findings showed that most patients were transported by ambulance and typically presented with multisystem injuries, with extremities being the most affected body part.
The overall mortality rate was 8%, highlighting the seriousness of pedestrian injuries as a public health issue, and indicating a need for initiatives to reduce these preventable incidents.
