Treatment of refractory mesenteric traction syndrome without cyclooxygenase inhibitors.

Mesenteric traction may be necessary for surgical exposure during colonic or aortic surgery. Traction on the mesentery releases prostacyclin, producing variable degrees of hypotension. Numerous cases of severe, life-threatening hypotension have been reported.
