Measles virus (MeV) is a highly contagious respiratory virus transmitted via aerosols. To understand how MeV exits the airways of an infected host, we use unpassaged primary cultures of human airway epithelial cells (HAE). MeV typically remains cell-associated in HAE and forms foci of infection, termed infectious centers, by directly spreading cell-to-cell.

Omics analytics can leverage sequencing technologies to enhance biomedical research and individualize patient care, but sequencing files demand immense storage capabilities, particularly when sequencing is utilized for longitudinal studies. Addressing the storage challenges posed by these technologies is crucial for omics analytics to achieve their full potential.

We describe characteristics of human A(H5N1) cases identified from March through October 2024 in the United States.
Methods: We analyzed data from persons with laboratory-confirmed A(H5N1) virus infection using a standardized case-report form linked to laboratory results from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention influenza A/H5 subtyping kit.
Background: Dual process models represent a useful framework for explaining physical activity (PA) in that behavior is explained by reflective (i.e., conscious, effortful) and automatic (i.

Background: Whole bladder irradiation is an organ preservation treatment approach for muscle-invasive bladder cancer (MIBC). Conventional planning margins, typically 15-20 mm, increase normal tissue toxicity and limit possible dose escalation.
Purpose: The study aimed to develop a patient-specific adaptive margin recipe for whole bladder irradiation to minimize the planning target volume (PTV) while preserving adequate dose coverage.
While there is ample research on the influence of retracted scientific publications on author reputation, less is known about how a health organization's retraction of scientific guidance can impact public perceptions of the organization. This study centers on the aerosol guidance retraction of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in 2020. X/Twitter social media data were collected via ForSight from September 15 to October 8, 2020, with a machine learning algorithm specifically developed and used to detect sentiment toward the CDC.

Two major actin regulatory pathways are signal transduction through Rho family GTPases and growth and proliferation signaling through the Hippo pathway. These two pathways act to define the actin cytoskeleton, controlling foundational cellular attributes such as morphology and polarity.

Objective: Studies regarding effects of omega-3 fatty acids, specifically eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), on risk of atrial fibrillation (AF) have reported discordant results. The aim of this review is to clarify effects of marine omega-3 intake on risk of AF.
Patients And Methods: A PubMed search was performed using terms: atrial fibrillation, omega-3, EPA, DHA, vagal tone.

The interplay between facial age and facial identity is evident from several scenarios experienced in daily life, such as when recognising a face several decades after the last exposure. However, the link between age and identity processing, and how age perception abilities might diverge in individuals with different face processing abilities, has scarcely been considered. Furthermore, the approach used to test age perception ability may also influence outcome, but the effect of different paradigms on performance is not yet known.

Few studies have explored how the health of local populations is related to occupational differences in employment outcomes among older people. Our study used data for England and Wales from the ONS Longitudinal Study linked with 2001 Census measures of the health of the older working age population at local authority level.

Emerging evidence indicates that psychosocial adversity detrimentally impacts the intestinal microbiota, affecting both physical and mental health. This study aims to investigate the gut microbiome in young children in the immediate aftermath of maltreatment exposure.

Vaccines, monoclonal antibodies, and small-molecule antivirals are now either available or in development to prevent and treat RSV infections. Although rodent and non-rodent preclinical animal models have been used to evaluate these emerging agents, there is still a need to improve our understanding of the pharmacokinetic (PK)-pharmacodynamic (PD) relationships within and between animal models to enable better design of human challenge studies and clinical trials.

The co-occurrence of AUD and OUD is common, necessitating a deeper comprehension of their intricate interactions. While the causal link between these disorders remains elusive, shared genetic factors are hypothesized.

Carotid-femoral pulse wave velocity (PWV) is an established measure of arterial stiffness and cardiovascular health and is validated in pregnancy. Our objective was to examine the obesity-related changes in PWV in pregnant individuals with and without HDP.

Tabletop roleplaying games (TRPGs) are an increasingly popular occupation but are still relatively unknown to occupational therapists. This study sought to understand the overall experience, benefits, and consequences of playing TRPGs and the relationship to other occupations. A qualitative research design with a thematic analysis was employed using semi-structured interviews with fifteen participants who had played TRPGs.

Early-stage investigators (ESIs), particularly those representing marginalized groups, face unique pressures in navigating the "publish or perish" paradigm while establishing their careers. This commentary articulates strategies for cultivating research environments conducive to the responsible conduct of research (RCR) for ESIs.
