How to do clinical research in cranio-maxillo-facial surgery.

Introduction: Not many randomised controlled trials are published in surgical journals, especially those on maxillo-facial surgery. There appears to be some uncertainty on how to perform such studies. Accordingly this paper offers some information on how to plan, pursue and publish a well conducted case-control study, or the more powerful randomised control trial.

An unusual case of a glandular odontogenic cyst.

Unlabelled: A case of an adult Nigerian female patient, who was found to have an unusual lesion, namely a glandular odontogenic cyst of the anterior mandible, is described. This lesion was found to be an extensive intra-bony lesion with alveolar expansion and was initially associated with infection and mobile teeth. Treatment for this ranges from curettage to block excision.

An overview of the management of pseudoaneurysm of the maxillary artery: a report of a case following mandibular subcondylar osteotomy.

Background: Aneurysms, pseudoaneurysms, and arteriovenous malformations of the maxillary artery are rare. This is why this case report and current opinions regarding therapy are presented.

Patient: A 41 year old woman presented in 1991 with recurrent pain and swelling in the right infra-auricular region of 3 years duration which was unresponsive to antibiotics.
