Background: In the United States, innovation is needed to address the increasing need for mental health care services and widen the patient-to-provider ratio. Despite the benefits of digital mental health interventions (DMHIs), they have not been effective in addressing patients' behavioral health challenges as stand-alone treatments.

Objective: This study evaluates the implementation and effectiveness of precision behavioral health (PBH), a digital-first behavioral health care model embedded within routine primary care that refers patients to an ecosystem of evidence-based DMHIs with strategically placed human support.

Background: Less than half of adults with mental health disorders in the United States receive appropriate or timely care. Digital Mental Health Interventions (DMHIs) have the potential to bridge this gap. However, real-world adoption of DMHIs is impeded by patient and provider-level technological barriers.

A hospital management algorithm for acute poisoning by Paraquat® in a pediatric population, a series of cases.

Paraquat®, or N,N′-dimethyl-4,4′-bipyridinium dichloride, is a bipyridyl compound used as a non-selective herbicide and desiccant that can cause acute poisoning through all routes of exposure. There is no known antidote, and the available treatments are based on avoiding its absorption and timely removing it, in adults and children. We describe a case series of 14 pediatric patients from the department of Cauca, Colombia, with acute intoxication after oral intake of paraquat.

The scarcity on the Atlantic coast of the African sea turtle population and its dynamics data is well known. This article discusses the nesting ecology methods and analysis of a nascent Angolan project aimed at preserving the nesting female population of the Olive Ridley turtle () on the coast of Lobito. This study examines the nesting ecology of this species from 2020 to 2023.

Antifungal Activity of Chitosan/Poly(Ethylene Oxide) Blend Electrospun Polymeric Fiber Mat Doped with Metallic Silver Nanoparticles.

In this work, the implementation of advanced functional coatings based on the combination of two compatible nanofabrication techniques such as electrospinning and dip-coating technology have been successfully obtained for the design of antifungal surfaces. In a first step, uniform and beadless electrospun nanofibers of both polyethylene oxide (PEO) and polyethylene (PEO)/chitosan (CS) blend samples have been obtained. In a second step, the dip-coating process has been gradually performed in order to ensure an adequate distribution of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) within the electrospun polymeric matrix (PEO/CS/AgNPs) by using a chemical reduction synthetic process, denoted as in situ synthesis (ISS).

The supply / demand issue in behavioral health care is a well-established fact, and the mental health toll of the COVID-19 pandemic continues to add challenges to an already taxed system. Existing healthcare models are not set up to adequately address the increasing mental health related needs. As such, innovative models are needed to provide patients with access to appropriate, evidence-based behavioral health care within routine clinical care.

The use of drugs that exert toxic effects on tumor cells or chemotherapy is one of the most widely used treatments against cancer. However, its low toxic selectivity affects both healthy cells and cancer cells.

Factors of abandonment of tuberculosis treatment in the public health network.

This study determines the factors of abandonment of tuberculosis treatment in the public health network of Cali, Colombia, during years 2016 to 2018. We conducted an operational case-control investigation including 224 patients with tuberculosis (112 abandoned treatment and 112 completed it). We found that treatment abandonment for tuberculosis is driven by factors related to the individuals and health services that facilitate non-adherence and drive them away from the care provided in medical institutions.

Spatial variation of cardiovascular mortality in Cali, Colombia, between 2010 and 2017.

Background: Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of mortality worldwide and in Colombia. The analysis of CVD mortality has been mainly relied on individual factors and rates, but occurrence is also related to contextual conditions. Understanding the distribution of CVD in a region will contribute to implement more focused-preventive and care interventions.

CCNE1 and PLK1 Mediate Resistance to Palbociclib in HR+/HER2- Metastatic Breast Cancer.

Purpose: In hormone receptor-positive (HR+)/HER2- metastatic breast cancer (MBC), it is imperative to identify patients who respond poorly to cyclin-dependent kinase 4/6 inhibitors (CDK4/6i) and to discover therapeutic targets to reverse this resistance. Non-luminal breast cancer subtype and high levels of CCNE1 are candidate biomarkers in this setting, but further validation is needed.

Experimental Design: We performed mRNA gene expression profiling and correlation with progression-free survival (PFS) on 455 tumor samples included in the phase III PEARL study, which assigned patients with HR+/HER2- MBC to receive palbociclib+endocrine therapy (ET) versus capecitabine.

Preparing Future Medicine Physicians to Care for Cancer Survivors: Project ECHO® in a Novel Internal Medicine and Family Medicine Residency Curriculum.

Cancer survivorship education is limited in residency training. The goal of this pilot curriculum was to teach medicine residents a structured approach to cancer survivorship care. During the 2020-2021 academic year, we held eight 45-min sessions in an ambulatory noon conference series for a community family medicine (FM) and internal medicine (IM) residency program.

Alginate fibrous materials have been applied as wound dressing to enhance wound healing due to its nontoxic, biodegradable, and hemostatic nature. Conventional nonwoven fabrication tactics, however, showed weakness in inflammation, degradation stability and mechanical properties. Herein, the wet-spun alginate fibers were prepared by a novel wheel spinning technique, then knitted into wound dressing.

In particular, it is present in the La Rochelle marina (France), where it is used for the biomonitoring of marine pollution, due to its ability to strongly bioaccumulate pollutants. In this semi-closed environment, contamination generated by port activities leads to an accumulation of both organic and metal pollutants.

Evaluating the Effectiveness of Online Educational Modules and Interactive Workshops in Alleviating Symptoms of Mild to Moderate Depression: A Pilot Trial.

Introduction: Depression is a common health concern in primary care with barriers to treatment well documented in the literature. Innovative online psychoeducational approaches to address barriers to care have been well received and can be cost effective. This pilot trial evaluated the effectiveness of an online psychoeducation curriculum intended to alleviate symptoms of depression while utilizing minimal staff resources.

Hierarchical porous silk fibroin/poly(L-lactic acid) fibrous membranes towards vascular scaffolds.

Fibrous membranes played an important role to prepare tubular scaffolds for muscular artery regeneration. In this study, a strategy has been developed to combine silk fibroin (SF) with highly porous electrospun poly(L-lactic acid) (PLLA) fibrous membrane towards vascular scaffolds. After PLLA fibres were electrospun and collected, they were immersed into acetone to generate a porous structure with ultra-high surface area.

[Impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on ST- elevation myocardial infarction care in Peru].

Purpose: To compare the number of admissions, clinical features and therapeutic outcomes of patients treated for acute ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), before and after the COVID-19 pandemic state of emergency in Peru.

Methods: Observational analytical study of retrospective cohorts, derivated from the PEruvian Registry of ST-segment Elevation Myocardial Infarction II (PERSTEMI II). We compared the patients treated for STEMI, between 45 days before and during the first 45 days of the COVID-19 state of emergency in Peru.
