Background: Around 20% of people with cystic fibrosis (pwCF) do not have access to the triple combination elexacaftor/tezacaftor/ivacaftor (ETI) in Europe because they do not carry the F508del allele on the CF transmembrane conductance regulator () gene. Considering that pwCF carrying rare variants may benefit from ETI, including variants already validated by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), a compassionate use programme was launched in France. PwCF were invited to undergo a nasal brushing to investigate whether the pharmacological rescue of CFTR activity by ETI in human nasal epithelial cell (HNEC) cultures was predictive of the clinical response.

However, the real morbidity of the influenza virus in CF needs to be further investigated because previous studies were only observational.
Methods: CF patients were included in a case-control study (n = 44 cases and n = 371 controls) during the 2009 pandemic A/H1N1 influenza.
Rationale: The diagnosis of cystic fibrosis (CF) is based on a characteristic clinical picture in association with a sweat chloride (Cl(-)) concentration greater than 60 mmol/L or the identification of two CF-causing mutations. A challenging problem is the significant number of children for whom no definitive diagnosis is possible because they present with symptoms suggestive of CF, a sweat chloride level in the intermediate range between 30 and 60 mmol/L, and only one or no identified CF-causing mutation.
Objectives: To investigate the function of the cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) protein in the airways of children with intermediate sweat tests and inconclusive genetic findings in correlation with clinical phenotype and genotype.
Background: Development of T-cells based-Interferon gamma (IFNgamma) assays has offered new possibilities for the diagnosis of latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI) and active disease in adults. Few studies have been performed in children, none in France. With reference to the published data on childhood TB epidemiology in the Paris and Ile de France Region, we considered it important to evaluate the performance of IGRA (QuantiFERON TB Gold In Tube(R), QF-TB-IT) in the diagnosis and the follow-up through treatment of LTBI and active TB in a cohort of French children.

Material And Method: Twenty-six patients with CF treated for MI between 1980 and 1997 have been matched for sex, birth date, and earliest CF symptomatic diagnosis for the children with non-MI CF. Clinical characteristics, genotype and complications were evaluated as well as the progression of the CF disease from infancy to 15 years old by nutritional status (z score weight, z score height), pulmonary function tests (PFTs) (FVC and FEV1), and Pseudomonas aeruginosa acquisition.
